What is SplitSol?
SplitSol is an app for shared expenses. You log a bill once, say who paid and who shared it, and SplitSol keeps a running balance for every person and every group. It also keeps a private book of your own spending, separate from anything your friends can see.
Is SplitSol free?
Yes. SplitSol is free to use and carries no ads. If that ever changes, existing users will be told well in advance, and your data will always be exportable.
How does SplitSol split a bill?
Enter the amount, pick who paid, and tick the people who shared it. SplitSol works out each share, stores money to the exact paisa, and uses largest remainder rounding so the shares always add up to the original bill.
Can I split an expense unevenly?
Yes. Split equally, by exact amounts per person, or by percentage. In exact mode SplitSol refuses to save until the amounts you assigned match the bill, so a split can never quietly lose money.
Can SplitSol work out who owes whom?
Yes. Every group shows your position and everyone else’s, recalculated the moment an expense lands. Simplify debts then collapses the whole web into the fewest payments that clear everybody.
Can I use SplitSol for a group trip?
Yes, and it is what groups are for. Give the trip its own group in its own currency, add hotels, food and transport as you go, and settle once at the end from a single balance per person.
Can I use SplitSol with flatmates?
Yes. Keep one group for the flat, log groceries, bills and shared buys as they happen, and settle up whenever suits you. The balance carries over month to month, so nothing needs resetting.
Does SplitSol support more than one currency?
Yes. Each group has its own currency and balances are kept per currency. Rupees stay rupees and dollars stay dollars. SplitSol never merges them behind an invented exchange rate.
Can I track my own spending in SplitSol?
Yes. Your personal book records money in and money out against your own categories, with a month view, a year view, search, receipt photos, and CSV export. It is a spending record, not a budgeting system.
Do my group expenses go into my personal spending automatically?
They can, if you turn it on. Group spending is off until you ask for it. Once on, your share of a group expense is added to your book by itself, so a dinner you split never has to be typed twice. Paying a friend back is not spending, so settlements are never recorded there.
Can my friends see my personal spending?
No. Your personal book is separate by design. It writes no balances and nothing on any shared timeline, so private spending has no route to a group screen. Your friends see the group expenses you share with them, and nothing else.
Does SplitSol move my money?
No. SplitSol is a ledger, not a wallet. It tracks who owes whom; you settle in cash, by bank transfer, or however you like, then record it. That means no bank credentials and no payment card details in the app.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Your personal book exports to CSV, either the whole book or a single year, with amounts in normal units and categories resolved to their current names, so it opens cleanly in any spreadsheet.
How do you find my friends?
Only with your consent, and only using salted hashes of contact details. We never upload or store your raw contact list on our servers. You can also add a friend by sharing an invite link.
Does SplitSol sell my data?
No. There are no advertising SDKs and no third party analytics trackers in the app. Your expense history is not a product.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes, from inside the app or by email. Deletion removes your personal data; shared expenses in groups are anonymised so your friends’ balances stay correct. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.
Which platforms is SplitSol on?
SplitSol is live on the App Store for iPhone. Android is built and coming to Google Play. A web app is on the roadmap.
